Artist Statement

Near Isfahan, many brick-making workshops depend on Afghan immigrant families who live and work close to the kilns. The work is physically demanding, repetitive, and often carried out in difficult conditions. In these spaces, children below the legal working age are also drawn into labor, standing beside adults in an environment that leaves little room for rest, school, or play.

Suffering, Brick looks at childhood under pressure. The project does not treat labor as an abstract social issue; it follows the bodies, faces, and daily surroundings of children who are pushed into adulthood too soon. Dust, heat, bricks, and long working days become the background of lives that should have been shaped by education and safety. The series is a witness to migration, poverty, and child labor, but also to the quiet strength of families trying to survive inside an unfair system.
